About This Project
The Neuw Denim Flagship Store is located at the Strand in Melbourne. Breathe Architecture approached Lygon St Nursery to design a planting scheme to suit their custom designed planters.
The brief called for the addition of interesting plants throughout. A steel planter, located on the top of the main jeans wall features a number of Asparagus ferns. Grow lights allowed these plants to be installed without much access to natural sunlight.
A feature steel planter in the centre of the boutique, is the main feature of the counter. This also houses asparagus ferns, however, the steel hangers also provide space for some climbing ivy plants to trail.
We also needed to include interesting sculptural plants in the store floor that would tolerate low light. Appropriately, we selected the very dramatic Dracena Marginata. The interesting foliage works with the lighting in the store to cast some interesting shadows, noticeable as soon as you walk in. As a result, the pops of green throughout the shop are a welcoming feature.
